Most of the material in this FAQ is for current members of the guild. Many of the links will only work for full members, but this preview may help out with some questions as well.

How To Join

Joining the guild is a 4 point process. You need to read our Charter and agree to it. You need to fill out an Application. You need to register an account on this website here. Then you only need to find an Officer in game for the invite.

Why Six Guilds

Blizzard limits guilds to a practical limit of 500 characters. We have many many more players than that, and with several characters each we've had to spread out among multiple guilds. Each is a part of the Spreading Taint, and in reality are one and the same.

Levels 1-39 are put into <Tainted Love> and <Tainter Tots>
Levels 40-79 are put into <The Tainted Ones> and <Tainted Nights>
Level 80 characters are put into <Tainted> and <Taint>

In addition, in order to assist raiding in Taint, we currently have three raid specific guilds - <Taint Invaders>, <Raiders of da Lost Taint> and <Taint of Madness>. Finally, we have a PvP specific guild called <War Taint>. More info is in the Taint Guide.

Guild Rules

Almost all of our rules are outlined in the Charter. Respect for other players in the game, our own guild members (especially in guild chat) and behaving as an ambassador of the guild are the main points. Please read the Charter and if you have any questions, ask an Officer.

Guild Discipline

Taint Officers reserve the right to punish members for offensives as they deem appropriate In most cases, a three strike rule applies: a warning will be given, then a demotion in guild rank (resulting in loss of guild chat and bank privileges), and then if necessary, a /gkick. For more information, please read the Taint Discipline guide.

Guild Banks

Each sub-guild in The Spreading Taint has a guild bank, containing weapons, armor, trade goods, crafting recipes, and quest items appropriate for those levels. We encourage members to take freely from these guilds, but only those items they can use. These banks are supported by the guilds members and thrive on donations AND a constant flow of items going to the members.
Greedy players or those looking just to profit from the guild's bank should read Taint Discipline and move on to another guild.
More info on the banks at Guild Bank Rules.

Guild Calendar

With so many events and groups forming within the guild, we make extensive use of a calendar system through this website. Everyone logged in as a member can view the calendar, and can create their own events. Info on creating a calendar event is here.

Ventrilo, Guild2Guild, Other Addons

Voice chat is a big bonus to a guild, and we have our own hosted Ventrilo server. We also have a PUG ventrilo server for those groups you may form which contain non-Tainters.
Guild2Guild is an addon which is easy to install and configure, and allows our sub-guilds to all share a chat channel. Its a necessary addon to save your sanity and make guild chat easier to read.
Other addons may be necessary if you're raiding. We have recommended addons all in one handy link
All three of these topics are handled fully in Tainted Software guide.

Raiding

The Spreading Taint is primarily a social guild, designed for LGBT gamers and their friends to have a diverse and friendly gaming environment. However, our boys and girls kick some major butt in raids. We place in the top 10 Horde Guildes on our server for Raid Progression (WowJutsu). More info on Taint Raiding is here.
